Where to stay near Madrid airport
An early flight, a long layover or a late-night arrival: sometimes what you need is a bed near Barajas. Here are the areas that work best, how to get to each terminal and the alternatives to airport hotels.

The most practical areas
Barajas and Alameda de Osuna: the closest, with few places to stay and high prices.
Hortaleza and the IFEMA area: minutes from the airport, with metro line 8 straight to the terminals.
Ciudad Lineal and Arturo Soria: about 9 minutes by car, quieter and with more options.
The centre: if you want some sightseeing, line 8 from Nuevos Ministerios or the express bus take you to the airport.
Getting to the terminals
Metro: line 8 runs from Nuevos Ministerios to terminals T1-T2-T3 and T4, stopping at Feria de Madrid (IFEMA); there’s a supplement at the airport stations.
Commuter rail: line C1 reaches T4.
Express bus: links the centre with every terminal, day and night.
Taxi: there’s a fixed fare between the airport and the centre (inside the M-30).
Airport hotel or something else?
Hotels next to the terminals are handy for one night, but they tend to be expensive and there’s little around them. For one night or several, a room with a private bathroom or a studio with a kitchen a few metro stops away costs less and lets you have dinner in a real neighbourhood.

Check in the afternoon before and plan your journey. If you’re taking the metro, check its opening time; for very early flights, a taxi or car is safer. Coming by car?
