Where to stay near the Bernabéu
Watching a match or a big event at the Santiago Bernabéu is one of the best things to do in Madrid. If you want to stay close enough to arrive relaxed and avoid the crowds afterwards, here’s which areas suit you best and how to plan the day.

Where the Bernabéu is
The stadium is on Paseo de la Castellana, in Chamartín, in Madrid’s northern business district. It has its own metro station, Santiago Bernabéu (line 10), and plenty of buses along the Castellana. On match days the metro and the surrounding streets fill up before and after: staying within walking distance or on a direct bus saves you the stress.
The best areas to stay
Chamartín and the Castellana: right by the stadium, with business hotels and high prices on match days.
Tetuán: just to the west, livelier, cheaper and very well connected; from here it’s about 17-18 minutes by bus or just over 20 on foot.
City centre: if you want to combine the match with sightseeing, the Castellana takes you to the stadium by metro or bus.
Hotel or apartment?
If a few of you are going to the match, an apartment is usually cheaper per person than several hotel rooms, and you get a living room to meet up before and talk it over after. Travelling solo or as a couple, a well-connected studio is plenty.
